How to monitor performance and identify low and high performers?

Hi folks! My name is Gerhard Esterhuizen and I am currently VP Engineering at Rescale, where I lead our Engineering team. I got into Software Engineering more than 20 years ago, in South Africa, initially specializing in signal processing and eventually large-scale distributed systems. Building a well-functioning Engineering organization is a bit like designing a complex, semi-stochastic distributed system :) I believe that great managers set their teams up for scale by driving clarity, removing dependencies, empowering individuals and holding everyone to a high bar. That's why I wanted to discuss with you on how to monitor performance in your engineering team, and how to identify and then have an action plan for both low and high performers.
