Navigating promotion to Staff engineer

Hello all! I'm Jacob Kessler, a software engineer with 14 years of experience In my 1:1 mentorships here at Plato, one of the most common topics to come up is transitioning into a Staff rolle, drawing back from individual coding contributions to focus more on team-level things, design and architecture, and facilitating across and within teams, while staying in a firmly technical (rather than people management) role. This course focuses on distilling, explaining, and putting into practice the processes that I've observed to be effective. My personal experience spans three companies at the Staff+ level, acting as a member of a Staff promotion committee for several years, mentoring 10+ coworkers through their own promotion processes, and developing, defining, and running the engineering levelling process at WePay - all of which combines to give me a fairly comprehensive view of what is required, why those are the requirements, and how to demonstrate them to a promotion panel
