What does it mean to have more of it? Let's talk about how impact is measured by hiring managers, how you can seek it out at your current job, and how you can set up your career for success in the next few years. About me -- I'm Chris Rude and my pronouns are he/him/his. I've managed engineers and engineering at a lot of places, most recently Facebook, Stripe, Dropbox and VMware. Before that I was a software engineer, at Microsoft and other places. I've made hundreds of hiring and promotion decisions for engineers and engineering managers, and have a good sense for what recruiters, hiring managers, promotion committees and (probably) your boss is looking for when considering you for the next level.
