Daring to Stand Out when you already Stand Out

Circle Description

Growing up as one of few brown people in a mostly white state, I always stood out but wished so much to blend in and go unnoticed. And as a woman and person of color in the tech world, that feeling is still all too familiar. To be great leaders, we have to use our voices to influence the majority, make decisions that ruffle some feathers, and have courage to stand out even more than we already do. After a decade of working my way up the ladder in tech, I am now a professional coach who works with leaders at all levels to break through barriers inside and outside of themselves to lead with authenticity and courage. In this circle, we’ll share space to reflect on how our personal beliefs, grown out of centuries of systemic racism, can limit our actions and ambition for growth, and together find ways to empower ourselves and those around us with the tools and support we need to create real change.
