Wayne leads two departments at GitLab. The first department is the growth department, which focuses on a data collection framework that allows GitLab to make informed product decisions, improve customer experience, promote conversion, adopt key stages, and increase the user base. The team validates ideas with data across teams focused on activation, adoption, conversion, and expansion. The second is the fulfillment department responsible for the infrastructure between the systems that affect the user purchasing process and the primary caretakers of the purchasing and licensing systems. Wayne also is a security advisor at the company and leads initiatives to measure and improve company-wide engineering productivity.

Wayne led two departments at GitLab: The first is the threat management department which he founded. This departent builds security features used by customers into the GitLab product, including container security and vulnerability management. These features allow customers to "shift security to the left" when building and maintaining their applications while enabling them to detect, prevent, prioritize, and resolve security issues with the lowest effort and highest effectiveness. The second department is the growth department, which focuses on a data collection framework that allows GitLab to make informed product decisions, improve customer experience, promote conversion, adopt key stages, and increase the user base. The team validates ideas with data across teams focused on activation, adoption, conversion, and expansion. Investigates and leads initiatives to measure and improve company-wide engineering productivity.
