Jose Rene Arzuaga

I'm José René Arzuaga, a Staff Engineering Manager for GitHub's Web Systems team. I have about a decade worth of experience leading teams of engineers in solving complex problems at scale, particularly focusing on accessibility, web performance, testing infrastructure, quality automation, and developer productivity observability. My mission is to enable great developer ergonomics while providing engineers with the tools they need to produce high-quality, speedy, and productive results. In my most recent role before GitHub, I was the head of the Developer Experience Tools organization at Walmart Labs, where I spent my days developing team members through coaching and establishing performance and development plans. I have also worked with engineering teams and support staff (TPMs, product managers, UX/UI) to define and launch projects. In addition to my professional interests, I'm also an active mentor and coach, particularly emphasizing my passion for Plato's philosophy. My hobbies include music performance (trombone), biking, traveling, and learning new technologies.
