Should Product Managers be Technical?
Discussing Product Management Practices with a Startup Founder
During a consulting engagement, I had the opportunity to discuss Product Management Practices with a startup founder. We explored ways to improve his product management process and find innovative solutions to his challenges.
"Being a technical person, I probed deeper into the problem and together we found a more appealing solution."
By delving into the technical aspects of his problem statement, we were able to build a stronger bond and establish a fruitful business association. It became clear that avoiding a thorough analysis would have led us in circles instead of reaching a resolution.
In certain situations, it is beneficial to embrace technicality to its fullest extent.
