With over 250 employees and having raised already $21M (Series A) Talkdesk is a hyper growth startup in the SaaS space that develops call center software (named in Forbes’ 2017 Cloud 100 List). As an Engineering Manager my main responsibilities are hiring, people development, continuous improvement and ensuring the teams achieve their goals. I was the first Engineering Manager in the entire organization and helped grow the team from 10+ to 90+ Engineers, define the organizational structure and bootstrap both feature and support teams (eg. QA, Agile Practices and Productivity). At peak I was leading 35 Engineers across 10 teams that range from front-end feature teams to infrastructure, security, agile practices, quality, engineering tooling and mobile. I played a pivotal role in defining and implementing some of the core practices and procedures around the software development life cycle (ceremonies, KPIs, reporting) and enabling Talkdesk architecture to evolve to the next level of scale, availability, quality and performance by sponsoring initiatives such as: transition from monolith to micro-services, moving from a PaaS to a IaaS, Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure-as-Code.
