Hi all, my name is Heemeng Foo. I’ve been in the mobile industry for the last 17 years and currently Sr Engineering Manager (Test) at The Climate Corporation working to revolutionize digital farming. I spent almost 12 years at Yahoo and about 10 years as a people manager. I’m passionate about technology and growing teams and people. My first leadership experience was in high school as 2 i/c of a marching band where as a new leader I made a lot of mistakes. I love telling stories drawing from experiences in applied R&D, serving in the army back in Singapore and growing up in Asia and now living here in the US - always being involved in teams either being in one, leading and building them. Hope to hear more stories and share what I know helping new engineering leaders sidestep the pitfalls of leadership and to thrive.

Climate Corporation is the market leader in the new field of Digital Agriculture. Our technology marries state of the art technologies such as IoT and Data Science with the latest in presentation technologies such as iOS, Android and Web to present useful planning information to farmers. I lead a team of 3 engineering managers in charge of quality for our presentation (mobile and web) and e-commerce portal. Key responsibilities include building and raising the bar for test engineers, building up next level test leadership, defining test strategy, evaluating and introducing new tools and test technologies eg. mobile/browser test farms and synthetic monitoring, driving test automation and CI/CD as well as defining how we orchestrate testing across presentation test teams and domain (eg. planting/harvest/fertility planning and yield analysis) test teams.
