I started at DealerPeak as a senior developer. I worked with the Chief Architect to introduce JIRA, implement a REST API, and to move from Subversion to Git. I also built some awesome software, including a Desking system using AngularJS. Proficient in backend and frontend, I designed database schemas, wrote beautiful SQL, built (and open sourced) a VO implementation, applied multiple best practices, and designed and built the UI elements as well.
I began to move into a leadership position when I saw opportunities for improvement in how the development team and its individuals were functioning. I worked with many of the departments throughout the organization to design and implement processes to help reach our goals more effectively. I participated in hiring, organizational structure, technology and product roadmaps, development workflow, HR policy, increased collaboration, and clear and consistent communication.
As I write this, the development team is in its 40th sprint. The efficiency and the morale of the entire development team has exploded, and the metrics are through the roof. Implementing change in a 12-year-old organization is hard, but incredibly rewarding. I love that I was part of making that happen.
Right now, we're in the middle of our transition from our legacy code base and infrastructure to building something new in a modern world. AngularJS, Go, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS is our basic stack. Microservices, message queues, API clients, web sockets, client-side data models, queuing, and all of it continuously integrated and deployed, we are set to build something amazing together.
My role is to push DealerPeak to exceed its potential. A committed team of extremely talented individuals are with me in this effort. We become better at building software every single day.
