Engineering Lead & Sr. Manager for SalesforceIQ
Salesforce
Jul 2014 - May 2017
Formerly, RelateIQ - Acquired by Salesforce.com in 2014 for ~$400M. Was rebranded to SalesforceIQ at Dreamforce, 2015. I was an early engineer at RelateIQ, and led platform scaling efforts after acquisition – wherein we grew the company by 5x (~250 employees), customer base by >30x in ~2 years. During my tenure, I helped scale the company across all the dimensions of people, process & products and my responsibilities grew along with the company into senior engineering leadership role. I headed SalesforceIQ CRM product engineering efforts during last few months of my tenure. SalesforceIQ is now called Salesforce Essentials and underlying data platform is part of Salesforce Einstein. • Led the engineering effort to move a vertically scaled architecture to a horizontally scalable architecture (large scale in-flight re-architecture) to be able to sustain the growth • I was responsible for overall Platform Roadmap & Execution -  Realtime Data Ingestion, processing, storage, archival, indexing & serving platform for communication data (emails, calendar events, contacts, calls, etc.)  Multi-DC Architecture  Authentication & Authorization  3rd party integrations (pardot, zapier, salesforce, hubspot, etc.)  Observability (Telemetry) – Monitoring, Alerting, Logging & Distributed Tracing • Architected & Built Foundational Contact System - built a distributed graph based contact system with attributes like Data Lineage, Deduping, Merging, Unmerging, Provenance, etc. and migrated existing system to new system in-flight • Helped scale the processes around engineering hiring, performance, project & product management, training & mentoring • Maintenance/ Upgrade, Scaling and Capacity planning of infrastructure and data systems including - Cassandra, Kafka, Storm, Zookeeper, ElasticSearch, Postgres, etc • Migration to an event driven, microservices based architecture
